Who We Are

About
Colby is passionate about working with children and fostering the fun and imagination that is so prevalent in childhood. Over the years while attending school, she has gained many other skills in her own spare time like cooking, baking, gardening, folk herbalism, botanical dyeing, sewing, and more.
Education
Colby attended Cabrillo College for her AA in Early Childhood Education, which hosts a renowned ECE program and lab school for students and children. She then went on to earn her BA in Human Development with a concentration in Early Childhood Education from Cal State East Bay. She graduated as an honor transfer student.

Mission
Since childhood Colby has been a deep lover of nature and sensitive to the negative impacts humans can have on the Earth. Her lifelong mission is to help protect nature by teaching children how to be in a symbiotic relationship with it.

About
Jeff has dedicated his career to environmental stewardship and helping to improve the quality of life for all sentient beings. He is a passionate gardener, woodworker, artist and proud father of 3 daughters.
Education
Jeff attended Towson State University with a focus on Philosophy, Anthropology and Japanese history. He is a pioneer in the organic movement, founding the first 100% organic, horticultural distribution company in 1998. His work has paved the way for organic practices in the U.S. and abroad.

Mission
Jeff started the non-profit Soil Revolution in 2008 with the mission to help children make the connection between clean air, clean food, clean water and clean Soil. He initiated programs in public schools that gave children the opportunity to transform under-utilized green space into productive community gardens, affording them first hand experience of farm-to-table practices in their own community. He sees LCFS as the Soil Revolution in living practice, helping children make their first connections with their teachers and other children in a natural forest setting.
It's a Soil Revolution... and it's gonna get muddy.

Committed to Stewardship
Today Colby and Jeff steward the land, tending 83 acres of one of the most biodiverse ecosystems in North America. The land where the school is located is also their home, where Jeff built their house fully off-grid. Together they share their love for nature, and the land they tend, with the children at their forest school. Co-creating an unforgettable experience of magic and wonder with the students!
